About

Hello, I’m Don Veitch, I’ve been a commercial artist since 1995. I’ve worked on a wide range of Illustration, Design and Web Design projects with more than 70 clients.

I’m also a Master Sergeant in the Massachusetts National Guard and my current assignment is as the Chief Public Affairs Noncommissioned Officer. I designed and am the administrator of the Massachusetts National Guard’s website; www.ma.ng.mil.

I deployed to Iraq in 2007-2008 with the 65th PAOC as part of Multi-National Force Iraq. While in Iraq I was the Web Administrator for mnf-iraq.com and was the NCOIC of the media escort section. Prior to this deployment I have worked as the Art Director for the Minuteman Magazine, and as a squad leader in the 182nd Infantry.

Artist & Soldier don’t seem to go together. I’ve often heard that, now more so. I happen to do both; it seems a good fit for me. I have worked as a professional Artist since 1995, and a soldier far longer than that. That I’m able to do both at the same time is probably what people seem to think is “odd.”

As an artist, I’m blessed to have the best job in the world. Don’t agree? How many times have you heard someone say, “I wish I couldn’t draw?” Probably never,  the ability to draw, paint or sculpt is always an enviable skill. Why? It’s just cool! To be able to put pencil to paper and create something is remarkable; to make a living at it is wonderful.

As a soldier, I’ve had a good career and done some exciting stuff. I’ve been over the “pond” for a tour of duty in Iraq. Worked with some great people and seen some amazing places; Paraguay, Germany and Tajikistan to name a few.

Hi! I’m a high school senior looking at reserve options to pay for school and I was wondering if you would mind helping me? I’m going into college for Film and Animation and don’t really know what jobs I could get that fall under that field. I hadn’t really been planning on the military at all, to be honest, so I’m just really new to this whole thing, and when I was trying to look up information I found your website! I would prefer to go into the air force, actually, because I live right by one of their bases. but any information I can get would be absolutely fantastic!
